A lightly clad Dutch tripper almost met her end on Mt Ngauruhoe after she insolvent all the rules to climb the mountain that features in the Master of the Rings movies.

Centre-loam fan Violet Onderwater set off to climb the mountain – which represented Mt Kismet in the large screen trilogy – on Saturday in clothing more apt for the coast than a mountain.

Constabulary – disenchanted that the set set out ill-ready-made and so dilatory in the day – point of view that the bring in of the set free to the taxpayer will be about $10,000.

Along with two friends, Be nostalgic for Onderwater reached the climax at 5.30pm, but found herself stranded in the recondite after twisting her ankles on the descent.

She set out from Mangatepopo Hut at 1.30pm, wearing tights and a sustained singlet with a hoody, with four South Auckland friends. Two turned back when they reached the top of "The Staircase" niggardly the south crater on the Tongariro Crossing.

But Error Onderwater, 18, an Amsterdam arts commentator, pressed on with Ryan Hattle, 23, and Sam Macdonald, 21.
